Firstly WinRAR...From the download counters it seems a lot of you have been downloading only 'part.1' of a 2 part RAR and you need both for the full album. If you look down the page to the 'Make My Day Mixtape' , 19 people have downloaded part.1 and only 11 have downloaded part.2 which is only 12mb and has the BEST version of Icecream you will EVER HEAR. Once you have downloaded BOTH PARTS simply click on part.1 and WinRAR will open both parts automatically.

Well seeing as it's been a while since I did a proper post, I thought I'd drop these...and I'm pretty damned pleased with them. A decent amount of you downloaded Skitz's Countryman, a classic in mine and alot of other peoples opinions. Homegrown vol.2 is very different though so don't be expecting more of the same...I don't know what genre this would fall under but it's sort of uk club hip-hop, not grime though, it makes you want to move :oP My second offering is Tommy Evans and this is one of the albums that started my interest in the UK scene. The cover looks jokey but don't be expecting any Eminem style lyrics as this bloke has clever word plays too but isn't that sort of novelty sound you get with virtually all Eminem. Tracks 1, 7 and 8 are my favourites as I think the more relaxed style suits him better...Karl Hinds I've only found out about recently but he has one hell of a lot to say and some really good, catchy tunes to back him. Better than average skits too...Blak Twang is one of the biggest names in the UK and I'm surprised I haven't posted something from him earlier. He's probably best known for Kik Off (2002) but this is my personal favourite and alot harder to find as this is un-released (c.1996)

Amazing album with incredible rapping skills displayed. Some of the tunes start with you thinking they're badly chosen but half-way through the tune you realise you were in fact wrong. I think this was released in 2002, before Sway was a big name and so there were only 2000 units sold and none outside the UK making this another rarity and the reason I can't find a cover for it. The group is made up from Sway (rapping + reponsible for over half the production), Pyrelli (talented rapper but his views suck balls), Mr Ti2bs and others. This was an independent release funded by the group themselves...you would not have thought it though as this is an incredible album and sounds very polished.

They're are a surprising number of off-tunes, not crap but just don't work which is odd considering how talented they are. Beatboxer from England, and I reckon' he's better than Rahzel! This album is by far the best I've heard from a beatboxer, as they normally loose the WOW factor when they turn out a record. The record then becomes a novelty, gimmicky one which gets a tune played every year or so...NOT Killa Kela. The album is short at 36mins which is what you want with this genre as an hour would be TOOO long + it would loose the quality that this album clearly has. Tracks 2. Check One, and 6. Step Then are my favourites but the whole album is an enjoyable listen, even has a couple of tracks with rapping. BEST example of it's kind.

Not technically DJs but the production, as with the rapping on this is top notch, production obviously why it falls under this post. Not widely known even in the UK, this album doesn't even turn up on Amazon so is p-ritty rare. Good to see quality albums are still being made, this one from 2004, a very complete album.

Lamb are normally described as Drum'n'Bass but don't expect hardcore beats as the majority of this album is fairly relaxed. They're a really artistically talented duo, Andy Barlow's beats stand out especially. Especially suited for late night listens as it's a fairly deep album, one of my current most played.

This is the expanded (!) version of an ALL TIME CLASSIC from my childhood, Experience by mash-up masters The Prodigy. This dates back to the days (1992) when Liam Howlett was on the decks and Keith Flint and Maxim were dancers for the group. I know this sounds like an odd role but a) when you hear the energy in the music, they play a pretty crucial role, b) they're F*****G sick and c) they went on to become the MCs/Vocalist in the groups later efforts. This album EXPLODES with energy, technically Rave/Techno I guess but don't be put off if like me you normally hate that genre of music as this is a must own album I'd be amazed if you don't like, almost every tune is a CLASSIC. As you can see it's a mash up of RJD2's beats with Jay Z's 'Black Album', and from what I've read Bazooka Joe was given permission by RJD2 to mix it all. As you'd expect some tracks are forgettable but there are some tracks that are really incredible (both musically and the fact that they were thought up at all), often the jazzier and classical beats. As always, it would not be posted if it was not worth the listen.....D-O-W-N-L-O-A-D

These were both sort of requested...Jehst - Return of the Drifter is a UK CLASSIC, Jehst being one of the biggest names in UK hip-hop. Taskforce are not massively to my taste BUT a lot of my mates consider Taskforce to be the best in Britain so they're pretty hit-n-miss. This is one of their best known albums but incredibly seems to be fairly rare with copies on Amazon going for between £30 - £55 ($65-$120 USD)! Clearly a high quality album even if you don't like their style, very gritty, underground sound that has made them a fairly big name in the UK. As usual check the Wikipedia links for more info...

Today England demolished Pakistan, the world's no.2 in cricket, getting Pakistan all-out for 155! Meaning that we are winning the 4 test series 2-0 with one to play (the first test we unluckily drew). After the World Cup shambles this is one incredible result for British sport, especially as some of our key players were missing. The team have proven they've a depth of quality and made the entire nation, BEAM with joy. Ooooooooooohhhhweeeeeeeee :oD

Described as a cross between trip-hop and dance, this is definately a must-own album for something slightly different from hip-hop. Again this is an album/group that is difficult to sum up. Thought a lot of the tracks would appeal to rap connoisseurs as Maxi Jazz does an incredible job on vocals with an almost whispering style of rapping. Wikipedia descibes him...

"Jazz acts as a vocalist mostly rapping and elevates the euphoric, ambient music to a spiritual and socio-political level with many of his lyrics"

Both the Amazon and Wikipedia links are worth a look for more info but trust me...you will want this.

This is the Greatest Hits album of a group so good they could have finished after their debut and called it Greatest Hits. It's difficult to summarise their style, it's bassy epic chillout, very emotive and atmospheric, often drawing on regional styles (like African drumming, Asian styles etc.). About half the tracks will appeal to people who (think they only) like hip-hop, tracks like Inertia Creeps (cd1 t5) with inspired waves of drumming and almost whispering rap over them. The tracks Massive Attack are best known for though are Unfinished Sympathy (cd1 t8) (regularly topping polls for Britains' favourite track) and Teardrop (cd1 t4) which is a fairly dark chillout tune. Brilliant album that's artistically incredible, true innovators. If you want any info on them check the Wikipedia link above, very informative (on positive and negative points).

Skitz - Countryman

This is one of the best albums to appear on this blog. The whole thing plays at a very high quality but the stand out tracks for me are: 4) Inner City Folk, 5) Vocal Workout, 11) Where My Mind is At, 15) Fingerprints of the Gods, 16) Twilight of the Gods. UK Hip-Hop at it's finest, one for any self-respecting collection.

There's been a gap of about 6 weeks in between my last 2 posts which is not purely down to me being slack. Started by going to Amsterdam on my own and did pretty much what you'd expect...Stayed in a hostel for the first time though and met bare sound people from literally across the globe...spoke to Dutch obviously, 2 Germans, LOADS of Americans, a Brazilian, bloke from Finland etc...highlight of the trip though was a crazy ride in a pedal taxi, by one REALLY laid back cycler. Took me on one speedy (as in fast, not short) trip round Amsterdam including the proper narrow and packed canals of the Red Light District pretty much riding THROUGH the other tourists. Highly recommend it. Got home and had to sort finances, forms etc. for Uni which I will be starting in September :oD Then I managed to persuade a mate to drop into Germany on his way to Spain so we could watch England v Portugal at the World Cup...enough of that...then drove through Belgium and then North-South of France (fuelled with the best, cheapest beer in the world and some tasty zuts bought from Eindhoven) stopping off in various cities then crossed over to Spain...amazing scenery, 2nd friendliest nation I've spoken to (even their police are sound!) and some of the cheapest prices I've ever seen for just about everything. A little bit too hot for me but minor niggle. then 2nd day in Spain my mates car was broken into leading to about £3000 - £4000 ($7500) of mine and my mates posessions being stolen including my laptop (with absolutely s**t loads of tunes on it) and my passport. Lucky as F**K we knew 3 mates who were staying not far from Barcelona (where all this happened) so after spending about 4hrs in Police stations reporting it we shifted to meet them for money and to follow them back to Paris. I can't drive so my mate had to drive for about 16hrs during 48hrs w/o sleep, I'm telling you this because while we were still in Spain, I feel asleep, my mate driving fell asleep and the car veered towards a truck, us going at 95mph. My mate somehow woke up in time and we missed the truck by LITERALLY millimetres, the car FILLED with burnt rubber and when we stopped to check the tyre, saw the tread had gone bald on the patch where we'd hit the brakes! Probably the closest I've come to certain death...it's an experience anyway. Skip forward a few hours and the 5 of us get into Paris, my favourite city. We got some hash off this kid in the street, then went to sit under the Eiffel Tower (this being about 11pm so it was lit up incredibly), piped some zuts of hash and bought a couple of bottles of cheap wine off the sellers you get walking tourist areas. Me and two mates (the other two slept in the car :oP) then went on the most memorable tour I will probably ever have...Paris is known as the City of Light for good reason and when we turned onto the Champs Elysees and you look straight up the wide, tree lined, incredibly lit road (rue) at the Arc de Triomphe it is genuinely jaw dropping. You then drive up to the Arc de Triomphe to a roundabout that is world famous, 8 unmarked lanes, you literally drive whatever line you want round this massive chaotic circle and make one quick dash for your exit, for us onto the Louvre. We walked a zut round the famous courtyard before driving onto Notre Dame where we piped another zut with 3 horribly pissed Americans as entertainment. They stopped about 20m infront of where we were sitting before singing, dancing, shouting funny s**t and got more and more passers-by to stop and chill with them. Twas proper jokes :oD aaaaaaaha. The next morning the 3 mates we met shifted on the ferry so I had to sort a temporary passport out which was an even bigger joke than the night before. I had to fill out a form by hand which took about 2mins (1side of A4), took it to the counter where it was stamped and that's all that was needed to get back into Britain , a country with one of the world's worst immigration problems (and a fairly high terrorist threat)! I literally needed nothing other than this A4, sheet of paper filled in by me! Anyway, got home about a week ago and that's why this blogs updates have been non-existent for June. Lowkey - Key to the Game 2

Had this a long time and had forgotten about it. This is one consistently brilliant album, one of my favourite British albums (A Day in the Life absolute GOLDen track!). Shout outs from Pharoah Monche and Alchemist which is pretty rare for a British artist meaning.....YOU NEED THIS ALBUM. I'm afraid whoever ripped this put a license on the second half, but they're still available last I checked. Don't be put off anyways, DEFINATELY worth the download.

Ol' Dirty Bastard - a WuTangCorp.com Tribute

This is a download straight off the WuTang site. It's a tribute mixtape covering ODBs career. One of the best, went truly crazy on his intonation and lyrics which is what was so good, sign of a true musician to be able to pull that off. No rapper could replicate his style....."there's no father to his style". He was unique.....Make sure to buy some ODB merchandise as proceeds go to his family.

There have been many s____y British-American partnerships recently such as Blair-Bush, but BudHead brings you QUALITY...so here's the best American artists with British links...Guess who I'm going to start with? Rick the Ruler aka Slick Rick aka One of the Greatest EVER, makes Mr T look cheap. Born Richard Walters on January 14 1965 in South Wimbledon, London he lived there until 1975 when his parents moved to the Bronx. Doug E. Fresh requested to meet Rick after seeing him win loads of MC contests and 1985 saw the start of his career with 'La Di Da Di' and 'The Show'. After that I'm sure you'll agree that he went down as one of the best...show me anyone who can do laid back cool better...? Unfortunately Black Pharoahs have already posted all the albums I know of!!! You can find their sterling work here...I can only offer these videos which the majority are CLASSICS. A lot of them aren't as WOW as that Pharcyde video that Biff posted for instance but Slick Rick's Character SHINES on all of them and as I said he sounds sooo laid back on all of them...I ended up watching these for about an hour last night! YouTube is BOOUM! As I'm posting a lot of videos on this blog I figured that it will be better to just post direct links rather than the embedded video as it's taking up too much space. MF Doom

One of my favourite rappers and producers, probably the most original out there at the moment. British link??? Born Daniel Dumile (pronounced DOOM-uh-lay) on January 9th 1971 in South-West London to a South-African father and West-Indian mother. I'm sure all of you have heard of MF DoomKing Geedorah, Viktor Vaughn etc.) but might be slightly less familiar with KMD, a group he (Zev Luv) and his brother (Subroc) were in during the early nineties. and his aliases ( Originally, KMD stood for "Kausing Much Damage," but before their first album they changed it to "a positive Kause in a Much Damaged society". In 1993 his brother was accidentally run over leading to Zev Luv suffering bouts of depression and KMD disappearing. He stayed out of the hip-hop scene between 1994-97, sometimes homeless, before returning at open mic events held at Nuyorican Poets Cafe wearing a stocking over his face! From this he formed the identity MF Doom (MF standing for Metal Face) inspired by the comic book hero Dr. Doom and after the underground classic Operation Doomsday was released in 1999 went on to become one of the best rappers, and producers around. Canibus (how much more British can you get than Cricket!?!?)

Canibus is one of the most interesting rappers out there, I've obviously never met him but he seems like one deep, complex character from what I've heard and read. He was born in Jamaica but his parents split leading to his him and his mother moving about loads...Washington DC, Atlanta and to London as his mother originated from the UK. Believe it or not Canibus worked in the US Justice Department as a data analyst! He then became an "internet junkie" and went to study computer science at DeKalb Community College (now Georgia Perimeter College) in Atlanta. I'll now jump to 2002 when Canibus joined the US Army (this is after having made an international reputation through his music!) He graduated from Fort Knox as a reconnaisance specialist in May 2003 (2 months before Rip the Jacker came out). He was eventually discharged in 2004 for being caught smoking bud! In 2005 he gave an interview saying he joined the army in order to get away from music and to build something distinct from his life before. He's had a pretty up-and-down career as early on he looked like he was going to be a HUGE success...incredibly complex lyrics and flow, unique voice and clearly is pretty intelligent. Can-I-Bus came out to awful reviews though, with mainly the producing (done by Wyclef) getting the brunt of the blame, Canibus himself cutting all ties with Wyclef though they're mates again now. I personally think this is a brilliant album and while you'd expect harder beats to the tunes (like on 2nd Round K.O.) , I think the dreamier style works well with tracks like Buckingham Palace, Get Retarded, Hype-Nitis and Nigganometry being some of my favourite on the album. The other album he released which was fairly destructive to his career was C-True Hollywood Stories which is still debated whether it was Canibus' attempt at the mainstream or whether it was a sarcastic view of the mainstream...I personally think it's pretty clear that it's a p_ss take. Anyway the other 2 albums I've included are two albums that got amazing reviews from just about everyone. It's more what people expect Canibus' style to produce, which is true but as I said I think Can-I-Bus is up there with his best albums. Be interested to hear views...especially on Can-I-Bus. Unfortunately his videos are not to my liking so I've only 2, Second Round K.O. (cameo from Mike Tyson) and him doing a verse from Who Writes the Song in full army gear next to a tank (definately worth a watch).

This is just short of a classic for me, about half the album is incredible...look out for Futureghost, Peace, Escuchame and Riviera Hustle especially. The rest of the album is very high quality but the production is off enough in a few tracks to take the edge off a little me tinks, more than re-listenable none the less.
Braintax - Biro Funk

This just beats Biro Funk to being a BudHead classic. I'm amazed that I didn't like Klashnekoff (sometimes called Ricochet Klashnekoff) for a few YEARS when I first heard them but then tracks on this album like All I Got, Our Time and It's Murda slowly got me into the Klashnekoff sound. 9/14 TRACKS ARE BOOUM TING and that includes 4 skits!

Radiohead were the first British band since the Beatles to have a joint No.1 in the UK and US and as they're the best British group since the Beatles seems the massmarket audience got it right for once...Thom Yorke is a true Genius...he is a once in a lifetime person with an incredibly talented group behind him. That's not to detract from the other members, it's simply no-one comes remotely close to his all round ability. Pete Doherty had the potential until about Dec '05 and then the drugs + life events seem to have tipped him over the edge. He's still producing amazinng songs with Baby Shambles but from interviews he's given recently I don't reckon that will last. Luckily Radiohead don't have those problems as far as I know but they are getting older! They still a lot left in them yet but it's better to be safe and se them nest time they're in you're country. I'm potentially going to see them twice, at V Festival in the UK and I've seen dates for a return to Amsterdam in the summer for the same venue this was recorded at!!! Radiohead + Amsterdam...ooooohhhweeeeee. Even if you know Radiohead well you should DEFINATELY get this, it's got a handful of new tracks off a forthcoming album + listen to Thom Yorke singing in the vocal range he's comfortable with and think how little alteration the album tracks must have received. He's literally perfect in parts, only the REALLY high notes showing signs of trouble...anyway...think it's a straight run through of the concert as you even get 2 x 3mins bouts of mass clapping for an encore :o)

Sorry about the delays over the last few days but I'll more than catch up over the next few. The reason for the delay is that I decided to enter very late for an exam, had to PACK revision in only to be told that I'm now not able to sit it...anyways, the blogs now got my attention again so I will be posting a decent amount of material over the next few days so make sure you check back. The 2 albums I posted yesterday...Rza - The World According to... thought this would be a good compromise as a lot of you seem scared to try non-American!!! As you can see RZA does production so there's the slice of American to keep you Hip-Hop heads happy and the rap is from ALL over the world, loads of languages in there + you've RZA's backing that these peeps is sweet! The second album is Bloc Party's Silent Alarm which is indie-rock at it's finest, C-L-A-S-S-I-C. I pity da fool who don't get this...the Japanese version is the same as other countries but also includes 'This Modern Love' (a brilliant tune which only got added to recent UK versions) and 3 remix tracks which are not particularly good but worth a listen. I'll be posting a few links to videos for them v.soon. Kele Okereke (lead singer) is one of the most musically in-touch people I have ever seen, literally shaking due to the music. Got some sweet as news today...I've got an unconditional place at Uni in Sep!!! Got quite jacked as you can imagine, got home, got on the net and saw I'd been added to Biffs and Black Pharoahs links :oD so MASSIVE THANKYOU to both those blogs organisers. If you've miraculously managed to miss them make it your top priority to check their blogs (links above + on right also), you will be amazed by whats on offer I guarantee...back to my post...Back in April DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist - Brainfreeze was posted by Biff (link for archive here) and it reminded me of this album I'm now posting The Prodigy - Dirtchamber Sessions Vol.1 . I bought it by fluke when I was about 13! liked a few tracks off it then but re-listened to it after Brainfreeze as they are both a similar idea...mix baaare different styles and genres together. There are a total of 48 original tracks mixed into 8 incredible tracks by the genius who be Liam Howlett, DJ from The Prodigy. Too many names to mention (in the track listing) so follow this link for all 48 tunes featured + reviews. This album blends literally all styles other than opera and classical! Mainly Hip-Hop and Breakbeat but as diverse as: Drum'n'Bass, Indie, Techno, Motown etc. and Liam does an amazing job of bringing it all together...even if you don't like a particular track he's used, his skills will always make you smile at just how cleverly done it is. Title of the album is a bit misleading because as far as I know it was only Liam Howlett involved in the making of it and I'm pretty sure Vol.1 was the only volume ever done. Back to Mine was just released by Liam in January this year, I haven't got it yet but it looks worth the purchase as it features Method Man, Noreaga and Public Enemy as well as others (even Queens of the Stoneage!).

Couldn't find a cover for this one but here's the more mid-stream French mixtape I promised...mid-stream but featuring a few well known names like Booba who from the looks of it is trying to break America...and Fonky Family (bottom picture) who have about 5 albums or so out. Another thing I like about French rap is that it seems to be a lot more inclusive of various groups (racial, religious etc.) than most nations efforts. Alliance Ethnik is a good example of this (obviously from the name!) who were about during the mid-nineties, disappeared and then re-emerged with Fat Comeback at the end of the nineties. Quite political messages but delivered in a fun and funky style...keep a look out for them. Rap Attentat Vol. 1 is a fairly large download (210mb in total) but well worth it as there are 40 quality tunes spanning about 2hrs 30mins and gives an overview of fairly current (2004) French scene. It's on zShare so just download it while downloading from Rapidshare etc. + make sure you use a download manager (no premium account needed) as you'll then get around the 60kb/s mark.

I was going to post a couple of French albums today but then I saw the Phi-Life Cypher album and had to put it on (here and my stereo). Some unbelievable skills displayed throughout but especially tracks like Drop Bombs, Fatcats, Herbaholics (sweet video below, album links: post below) and what can you say about ABC....they do a verse using each letter of the alphabet, almost every word of the verse starting with the appropriate letter, and it isn't just a list of random words either, it all makes sense and it's all SICK. Worth the download just for that track. These guys are ridiculously underated so buy an album or visit one of their shows as they're regularly all over Britain, even the small places! Give the video a play to get an idea of them...

Phi Life Cypher - Herbaholics

My other offering is the Taxi soundtrack which is a good intro I reckon to French Hip-Hop/R'n'B. It's commercial but don't let that put you off, my only criteria is good music wherever it comes from. Don't take my word for it either, IAM who do a lot of tracks off the album have done collaborations with DJ Premier and Guru separately, as well as various members from the Wu-Tang family (including Timbo King, Dreddy Krueger and Prodigal Sun, live video below if you still need convincing!). Obviously unless you know French fluently the lyrics will be wasted but French flows soooo well and it's a distinctively different style from any other Hip-Hop nation. Hope this starts an interest anyway. Album links under the videos. I'll be posting links for a more mid-stream French mixtape pretty damn soon...

Had to start with a bang so here's two CLASSIC British Hip-Hop albums The ESSAnce - Yungun (aka Essa); and Run Come Save Me - Roots Manuva. I have to confess I don't know alot about Yungun other than he's absolutely sick, very clever lyrically with tracks like Gringo Lingo, Chef YG, Liquid Love etc. and he's British! Roots Manuva was the un-disputed king of British Hip-Hop until the 'grimey' style of Hip-Hop kicked off here with people like Sway, Dizzee Rascal etc.. He's always been fairly mid-stream fame in Britain so I doubt many of you will have heard of him? Brilliant album and especially good for the summer (aaahhhhhh summer '01). This was his (Rodney Smith of Brixton, London) 2nd album but it's his best to start with as the others seem to have more of a link with each other. Anyways, I'd like to hear people's views, comments, requests or contributions so e-mail, post a comment or whatever is available. I'll get everything up and running smoothly asap. Peace.
